  1. One thing I found surprising was your students lack of enthusiasm for converting the newspaper over to an online format. Being "digital natives" I would have thought they would have jumped at the chance to put their paper into electronic format. Using the Weebly podcasting and vodcasting paid subscription features was a great solution to getting your students on-board with the inevitable switch. Plus, build student enthusiasm for the switch itself. I loved your idea of bringing in college students to as guest speakers to your students about journalism=8-)

  2. Katie, do you think the students might have had some reservations because they have to be able to speak and have the ability to sit in front of/behind a camera in addition to just writing? It seems what you are setting out to do merges several, formerly separate, areas into one. My high school has separate speech, newspaper, and video classes and doesn't even offer photography. I agree with Sue that bringing in the college students will be very beneficial. I've used that approach successfully several times in the past to motivate students.
